Not me personally, but I heard from someone last night that her mother and partner were told by a coach perhaps they they should sopend time with grandchildren as they are wasiting their time competting
How dare they, people are on the floor for all different reasons.....
Some people say all kind of nasty things to other people. Just jealousy or simply miserable with their life.

Not a comment as such, but I have had the experience of being placed second in a heat in which we had no competition.
Did you ask them why?
That might be an error.
No it was done in all seriousness...I think some people forget that there is more than one reason to get on the dance floor

I hope the reply was that perhaps he/she should go into plumbing...

No error. The judges thought my footwork was sloppy. (And they were probably right -- this was some years ago, and at the time I had lots of problems with taking heel leads on 3. It's a habit I still catch myself doing occasionally.) There are several judges who work the comps in this area who make it absolutely clear that you are not guaranteed a first placement just because you have no competition in that heat.

Same here - but it happens very rarely. Of course there could be many 2nds on the score sheet that we never hear about...

It had been explained to me that this is very possible... that judgest may not award a 1st place for a solo entry that isn't up-to-snuff... as they judge it.

Makes sense really - there has to be a minimum standard. At the extreme, imagine if a pre-bronze couple entered championsihip knowing that there would be no other couples?
