Partner Dance Online (PDO) is intended primarily for dancers who participate in, are in the business of, or are otherwise connected to any form of 'partner dance'. Dance can be defined as ' expressive body movement to a rhythm' and there are an extraordinary variety of these. Partner dancing is a slice of the whole dance world that is differentiated by the movement of
two bodies in harmony to a rhythm. There are common rules that permit two people to dance together and here we wish to explore, discuss and delight in these rules and the art, pleasure and also lifestyles they generate.
We hope that you will share your dance experiences and skills and the lifestyle implications of dancing on this forum. However, we want it to be more than that - commiting to partner dancing is a step into a different world that others who are not part of it may not understand or appreciate. For some this step is easy and there is a strong community to support them but for others it can lead to loss of contacts and even be alienating. We hope PDO can serve not only as a place to talk dance but a place to make friends and contacts with people in an understanding and sympathetic community. Sure, there will be disagreements - that is surely the most important time for discussion - but hopefully we all have one goal in common, to participate in and support others in the wonders of partner dancing.
Please let us know if you have any observations, ideas or critisisms on PDO. There is an open board for this purpose on the main page or you can 'private message' (PM) any moderator or administrator. One more thing - there are many young people in dance and we do want these to be able to access the information on this board. For this reason we do not have an age limit - and hence, please post with this in mind.
Come in, make yourself comfortable, peruse the boards for your interests - and don't forget to say hello

Looking forward to meeting you....
