[Edit from ee: this bit from the SA open topic sparked an interesting question: once you get used to pro-am can one move to AM?]

I think you need a new AM partner - perhaps at the new place ...

That's very true! I wonder if I'll get withdraw symptoms if I go back to an Am partner

huh?
I did 4 years pro-am before finding my AM partner and I have no intention of going back. [Though I must admit it would be nice to dance with Anton also
]
But maybe its different for leads? That they get spoiled with the pro followers and then get frustrated... I hope not, you can learn a lot with a pro, but you can't learn to really lead a weaker dancer.

Well, I hope that doesn't mean 'new interests...'

New love interest perhaps.
Now I'm confused. Is this a possible love interest or an ongoing one?

That's an interesting question. If men dancing pro-am get spoiled by dancing with highly skilled lady pros, then surely it's same for the ladies dancing with skilled pros, probably even more so. Speaking as a follower, it feels so much better to follow someone who is highly skilled, who will insist on leading every little thing (and who will tell me if I didn't follow it), and who would also allow me to pour everything I am capable of into my dancing. That would make me a very demanding partner, because I would be expecting same high-quality lead.
Sure, I can dance at a social, knowing that I am holding back, and dealing with ambiguous leads the best I can, and I can smile and say all the right encouraging things, but that's just social dancing. I don't want to be in a long-term competitive partnership like this.
