envy is mild and (generally) constructive - you envy and it makes you try harder. Jealousy is encompassing and (generally) destructive. It borders on obsession and anger...

I suppose others may see me as that. Luckily they can't look under my hood (bonnet)....

I can sympathize. Mine aren't too bad at the moment, but I do worry that won't be for long
Once did a very energetic quickstep at a social, and took my knees almost a week to recover. I'm dreading the time that I would have to learn samba and quickstep properly. Makes my knees hurt just thinking about it

QS is not bad on the knees as long as you keep them slightly flexed. I think FT can be much harder - specially when your timing is a bit off. I always found samba was harder on my hips...

yes QS it is the hardest for me at the moment, as I do not have a good articulation I can go down and flex but on the way up it is not smooth,and then the next step is not as controled but this week-end the swelling behind the knee has improved alot....I feel less pressure so I feel more positive.

But, you gotta be jealous, not envy for things that you cannot achieve or whatsoever.
Like jealous about someone's long legs that I don't have.....

"Envy" and "jealousy" are often used interchangeably, but in correct usage, they stand for two different distinct emotions. In proper usage, jealousy is the fear of losing something that one possesses to another person (a loved one in the prototypical form), while envy is the pain or frustration caused by another person having something that one does not have oneself. Envy typically involves two people, and jealousy typically involves three people. It is possible to be envious at more than one individual at any given time. Usually envy involves wanting the beauty, wealth, or socioeconomic status of another individual. Envy and jealousy result from different situations and are distinct emotional experiences.[7] Both envy and jealousy are etymologically related to schadenfreude, the rejoicing at, or taking joy in, or getting pleasure from the misfortunes of others"
wikipedia;
for me jealousy is of persons and envy of things; but that may
only
be me
