I've been reading a bit, but not posting. Generally busy with life and work and stuff...in the last few days I've worked almost all day...today I started at 6, finished at 3, had piano, dance, etc.

So tired.

What an intersting Aussie this year.  There are a lot of complaints and I do understand why. they have down scaled it this year and devalued the compeition! which is such a shame. Some of the issues are

Music. - not all of the music they used was suitable for the events. NV required music with definate phrasing and that was not always done.

It was very poor not to give out medals or certificates down to sixth place as they usually did. for all the effort and expense that some families would go to very ungenerous.

In the finals instead of calling out the couples  names they only called out their numbers. Very disrespectful. I have aksed dancers to send in feedback good and bad so that they know what they need to revert back to. Last year was brilliant.

I see they posted two IDSF results for the Aussies on DSI - but was there no professional heats?  If so results....

Thre should have been, they did have professional events but perhaps not IDSF

Some of this was because of the fact that they lost two of their major sponsors: tattersals and channel 7. Imagine the amount of cuts they would have had to make just to run the event!! It was looking to be one of the biggest entries on record with 700 competitors but then a lot withdrew, looks as though dancing may be dying a little...

Tattersall was lost some time ago and I dont know how much channel seven put into it. Somehow I dont think it would be alot. I know tht the ADS had to produce the highlights themselves and then channel seven bought them. I really think they should be cutting down on the size of the venue and then they dont have to spend so much money.
