Yup, this one evokes a lot of contradictions!
If I read this your post before I had figured it out Elise, my reaction would've been, "huh?!". It makes total sense.

Indeed, when you understand it it does but to someone that is new to the idea (and who has learned by more common methods) - it is rife with apparently contradictions

I will have to say that over the years of dancing my magic spot have move around my body. It is in the same general area but has changed and does change on a regular basis.

How very ineresting - I feel two slightly different magic spots that differ depending on whether I am going forward or backward. Forward its in the middle of my back, but backwards it seems further forward, in my sternum...

From DSV's response I suppose it depends on how advanced a dancer you are. It works just fine in one spot (between the shoulder blades) but I'm intrigued to find out how many places it might be!

Yes it really is the old sayings less is more and getting your brain out of your body's way wrapped up in one.
Anopther thing is that I look at our friends in the lower syllabus levels and I'm surprised how much effort they are putting out to achieve so little. For my DP and I it has become less work to achieve more. Wish I knew this years ago.
In latin the particular chakra used changes according to the music and feel of the song and dance. I can't thing of doing latin without involving my chakra zones and which one is dominant when. It changes the whole feel of the dance.

I can see how that happens, depending on how your muscular development changes, and your general state of health and (ahem) age-related changes. Some years ago, I was playing industrial-league softball. When I started, I had no upper body strength. I started going to the batting cage regularly, swinging the bat and leaning how to hit. And at the same time I was going to the gym and working on upper body development. I got to where I could hit decently well, but I kept working out because I wanted to get stronger and better. My upper body strength kept improving and... one day I couldn't hit anymore! The additional strength had changed all of my body motions and reaction times, and the swing that I had taught myself when I was less developed didn't work anymore. I had to go back to the batting cage and learn how to hit all over again.

wow, there's a life lesson in there C! Another lovely examplel of ballance, both litterally and metaphorically.
Reminds me of a children's story I read once where the flee wished for lion teeth - but when he got them they were too big to feed his normal way...
Come to think of it, it was a pretty awful tale!

When you think of it all those famous children's tales we heard were quite violent. I suppose they were ways of getting messages across to children. These days the message is televised like someone showing an egg and saying "this is your brain" to break the egg and put itno a pan and say "this is your brain on drugs". Or, today it is "don't talk to strangers" or you may be nabed and taken away. Back then it would be "don't talk to strangers" or you may be nabed by an old woman and stuck in her stove and eaten. Or, don't go out by yourself or you may meet up with the big bad wolf and eaten. Hmmm, this may go for the modern day tale for adults by replacing woods with bar and wolf with perosn you picked up.
Yeah, I know its late and I'm off-topic. Of course this may lead to a good topic of comparing old tales from the past with modern scenarios.

Moving through the second center was just one of the very many AAAHHHH HHHAAAA!!! moments I have had in the last few years. I found that my female students grew by leaps and bounds when they started playing with this concept.
What's scary (in a good way) is I was told that there are MORE centers to move through. All I can say is THANKS MOM!!!!!!!! Still working on my first center and finding my 'magic' spot. grrrrrrr

(I don't know a lot about this but this worked for me) I think the easiest way EM is to assume it is in the middle of your back, between your shoulder blades. That works fine and what happens is that as you dance you realize that it moves, or rather you need a slightly different magic spot for different actions - forward and back for example.
