My use of "Hey" was used in the colloquial idiom of an English footballer appealing to a referee against what he sees as an infringement;
with overtones of humour and flippancy.

here in the UK pets are generally treated with far more love and respect than our fellow human beings.

and I've no idea what the etiquette is in addressing a pig.

I think it all goes back to the tone and you can't pick that up always with written, text.... I don't believe anyone on this forum is deliberately being disrespectful...just a misunderstanding....
