Funny, Ginger, about almost bumping into Ben Ermis at VolState.
The man does not know how very fortunate he is. For two years now, at Ohio Star Ball, he has been directly underneath me (I have been on the balcony) and I've almost spilled coffee on him. Its getting to be very freaky!
If you actually manage to do it this year, I'm SO telling him it was you!
Well, I will be there volunteering, I hope, and not with my former studio. I like to sit front and center to watch, so if I am there not volunteering, I am staying far away from Ben!
Oh, and I always take the lid off the "to go" cup, so he would've gotten a full cup of hot coffee directly on his head.

We try to get a table at the very corner of the floor because that's where the standard dancers ham it up and I get to squee and bounce like a fangrrl.

Oh, God! And I sit and smile and make comment when I know they can hear (good comments, of course).
I have a feeling you and I could be dangerous sitting together!

oooooooooooooooo we would be. I love it when they dancers go into the "pose" she usually looks directly at you and smiles.
I have had that happen several times and I feel like in that moment, I know I can do this and I will do exactly as she did .... awesome feeling.

I almost hyper-ventilated when my favorite amateur smiled at me. Stupid, I know. But I really like her and she noticed me.

I get carried away when it's finals-time and everyone else is whooping and clapping- it reminds me of my times at American Saddlebred shows- it's CRAZY... the people I'm with usually shrink and squirm away from me, and cast uncomfortable "she's doing that again" glances at one another.

yes I have taken "cheering" for standard dancers to a whole new level. Latin dance I fit right in .... but standard dancers are relatively tame. not with me in the house.

mine.
malitowski - leunis = intl. latin. (danced with him on a dance camp. love him)
allan tornsberg - serena lecca - intl. latin
sylvia piton - paolo bosco - intl. standard
i am not a fan of smooth & rhythm.

I have difficulty deciding (and I love watching dancing so in all honesty I am pretty excited to be watching anyone) but for favorites:
Slavik/Karina (or Hanna/Elena as well...)
Jukka Haapalainen/Sirpa Suutari
Sergey/Melia
Victor Fung/Anna Mikhed - although I haven't seen many of their show dances but Beethovens 5th was fab.

While I of course love watching the top pros, my favorite is to watch my friends who are pro couples. Being able to watch them go from new pro couples to point they are now (And they're all still improving) has been great.

I agree, its specially nice when you get to watch them develop thier skills and settle into their partnership. Of course, sometimes these break and you get to see the new dynamic of old fave with new prospect...

Yeah. Not a whole lot of that in this group yet, with exception of one guy. Think this is at least fifth partner he's tried out. But looks like a really good match.
