Just a place to post a question that you cant seem to find the answer for...

I was trying to figure out who was the first north american ballroom dancer to make it to the finals at blackpool?  I'm primarily interested in standard but it would be interesting to hear about latin too...

my guess on the former is Joe Jenkins but I have no idea......

Is that Jonathan Wilkins & Katusha Demidova first US pro standard couple had made to Blackpool final? Is Jenkins Canadian? I only remember when JW/KD made final, Dance Beat had commented “never had any US couples placed so high before”

[I got Jenkin's first name wrong - its Joe and Nancy Jenkins so I corrected both posts above]

I think I'm wrong on Joe and Nancy - I tihnk they made the world championship finals in the mid 70s (and they are US - Joe is dead now but I think Nancy may still be teaching in the washington DC area).
