so, on that note... here's a question then about what everyone actually considers bragging to be... because i suspect there's some variance there. and i wonder if discomfort with the idea of "bragging" carries over in some people's lives in their inability to truly "own" the good qualities that they either currently embody, or which they *desire* to embody. i ask this because the inability to make statements and have confident feelings of owning those qualities is, IME, a crippling interruption of the ability to use the law of vibration to move toward the fulfillment of a desire.

i know from past experience how i crippled myself from experiencing joy & personal fulfillment because i mistook "humility" as something virtuous. didn't realize that it could be as damaging & distorting as arrogance, in some ways. so i eventually chose to lose any "pro-humility, anti-arrogance" stigma, and found it so freeing. i could finally see myself for what i was, appreciate whatever i was able to embody, and more easily bring in the capacity to embody *more* of the good qualities i desire.

so someone can brag all they want around me and it doesn't set me off. course... can they back it up? i enjoy testing their claims out...

with succulent roast chicken moist to the point of idiocy and great cappuccinos, i know i can back it up.

I don't usually brag, but then I don't usually speak about my achievements either. So I guess this is my achievement thread rather than my actual braggng thread.

Actually, I'm not as good at this bragging thing as I try to let on.  Sam's comment really resonates.

I wonder also if there is as sex difference here - that men find it easier, maybe because they were encouraged to show-off their achievements whereas women are not?

I think there's a huge sex difference! Not only because we're culturally more supportive of their being braggarts, but that we are also culturally intolerant of women being self-promoters. We seem to find them either unfeminine or just plain offensive.

As one who certainly has a life theme of promoting the empowerment of women, I love hearing women verbally recognize their assets and sing their own praises. 

IMV, it doesn't necessarily fall into the realm of "bragging"... just self-appreciation.

well i don't know about bragging... but... I've been working my butt off this semester (like hours and hours of study a day)... and as of right now I have all A's, and the highest rank in all of my classes.... I pretty proud of myself... i've never done this well before life is good!
