I spend so much of my time worry about where my foot and leg are in relation to my partners.
and keeping my shape.

So can someone clarify for us whether we were totally off base with our initial comments on the vieneese reverse turns round corners? Is that whats going on at this stage of the dance?

7:00 min into the video. Watch the reverse Viennese turns, and how the man breaks away from the lady at the last step.

So you mean the short sequence where they are in closed position? I think its just two bars or so - thats actually exactly what I had in mind

Yep, the whole question is on those two bars of music.

well, reverse and natural turns are just about the only steps we do (with a few change steps thrown in) though we can add flekrls eventually...

The hardest bit for me to get was the realization that it is NOT a rotational dance (like a polka or something), that is all an illusion.

That is a weird thing, isn't it? When you watch a Viennese, it looks like it's turning continuously.

it is about taking turns. your turn my turn, opening a door one goes in and then lets the other pass through. we are ok for one round and then it can go wayward, but considering that this time last year I could not do it at all without being sick we have come along way.

Its the best example there is I think of the 'two bodies' the upper doing one thing and the lower doing something totally different. I mean both bodies do have to go round each other but the legs do it in rapid half turns while the torsos do it slower... and people only really watch the upper body

sorry to be misleading - you do dance through but the viewer sees it as a rotation because your torso does actually make one - but you don't feel it as such.
I actually feel it as a series of single steps - not rotary nor even progressive. Its totally weird how it looks like you are going round in circles!
I hope thats an iota clearer!
