I was trying out the steps of the Swing Waltz which calls for these swivels while in an aerial.

Code:
Step                          Count  Bar
36  L.F. fwd (HTH) Diag. W R.F. aerial  Swivel to R on L.F. before lowering H              123  17
37 R.F. fwd (HTH) Diag. W Against LOD L.F. aerial Swivel to L on R.F. before lowering H  123  18

I find it impossible to do this and still maintain my upper body.  Is it just a matter of practice or would you have any suggestions on how to do this step with good control?

Thanks very much!

this one is hard to do on your own.  I explain it when I teach as step and swing.  You keep low to the floor if you do it too high you will fall over as you found out. the foot that is going to lift sweeps the floor as you step if that makes sense.  It helps to keep you balanced.  Swing Waltz has a good example on Utube if you can find it  Cheesy mummsie

Yes, you must do this with a bent leg and  even though the aerial comes from the thigh, you must use ankle rise as well to lift the leg. I hope you can visualise it. Tongue
