Basically a thread for luvin' on Joanna Leunis and Michael Malitowski.
I find such inspiration in watching them dance. Joanna is a perfect combination of athleticism, femininity, and joy in motion IMO.
A few vids that have recently inspired me in my latin practice...
A lovely rumba:

And a memorable samba, which I got to see live in Boston. I enjoy watching it every time I see it... wow.

Of course, dudley's favorite lady!!!
She is a perfection for me. My goal and watching her dancing is just inspiration.
Another Rumba!!!

I love her work, she is balanced and in touch with her performance, I saw her live at the Canberra comp in June 2009 in Australia

lovely, mesmerizing showdance. the view is not close up, but it certainly affords no compromised appreciation of all the qualities i so admire about joanna's dancing... clarity, precision, femininity, athleticism, *speed*, stillness... and just a great view of the way the lines of energy flow through her body with such relaxed purpose & sensation...

very much enjoyed that. have watched before. i recall noting how much i love their precision -- the very fast stops & starts, with such clear intention.
however, i've been observing that joanna has a kind of "head wobble" thing she does which very often breaks that stillness or the lines or symmetry they're achieving as a couple. have just been observing it when it comes up and how it disrupts my eyes...

someone commented to me recently that they thought their performance at a championship in Vienna or something (cant member the location), michael was playing to the audience instead of taking the dance seriously, and that is fine in a showcase but this was during a comp!

A lot of dancers play with audience during competition. That's the one way of showing off things in Latin. Probably not in Standard. They flirt with the partner, audience, other competitors, and even judges.

a lot of top pros seem to do this... yulia, max, andre, and elena had at a of fun at the manhattan comp -- in the final! -- where they all switched partners, at the end of a rumba IIRC.

This is pretty common QPO. I don't think I'd ever do it, but I guess it portrays a sense of humor, personality, and confidence. There was a better video out there of Max and Andre switching partners but this is the best I could find (after they had already switched partners):

More recently, Stefano reclaimed his previous partner (Slavik's current partner) during the most recent UK Open:

Slavik was a good sport about it, seemed like.
