Best of the Best Dancesport web site
«

For those PDOers who are interested in the Best of the Best Dancesport series, there are some movie clips of participants and winners of the BotB finale at 2009 Ohio Star Ball. Please go to following web site:
http://www.bestofthebestdancesport.com/
Movie clips are in Grand Finale page. Also for 2010, there are 4 new comps that are part of the Best of the Best series. They are Maryland Dancesport, Caifornia Open, San Francisco Open, and Emerald Ball.

Yes, I saw your performance. You and pro did a very good job. Did you see your movie clip at BotB web site? On Grand Finale page in movie viewer.

What is Best of the Best? A series of comps?
Here's the 2013 website, btw.

Its pro-am and I think you have to win a major comp (or place) to get invited to compete.

Oh. That makes the name make sense. I noticed that OSB is one of the comps listed. I've often wondered how the organizers make sure that the quality of competition at OSB is so high. Can't rely on all pro-ammers to self select, right?

Its successful because it invested a lot of effort into promoting pro-am - they cottoned onto the glitz and high-level competetive aspect rather than (at the time) regarding pro-am as an inferiour passtime for old ladies.

Smart strategy. I'm not a huge fan of the glitz and glamour requirement, but I am definitely in favor of taking old ladies seriously.
I just wish they'd take ordinary old ladies as seriously as they do rich old ladies. Just sayin.

Oh. I get the point all right. Just saying that the old ladies and otherwise partnerless are often paying quite dearly for the privilege of getting taken seriously, something that I think should be a given, if your behavior indicates that you take dance seriously.
Oh! What a world! *sigh*

Its the same everywhere really. I mean how many people would really think about 'art' if noone put a price on it? Two pieces, one the original and the other an absolute copy obviously don't have the same monetary value (which is OK) but also don't have the same artistic value. Why is that? Is there an 'aura' I'm missing?

What is needed is more men who dance. Another topic, really, but true.
If more men danced, more women would have regular partners, pro-am would not be needed, and the pricing structure would change to fit the market.
Just sayin.
