On the way home, I heard something on the XM that I hadn't heard in a long time, Cream's "Badge". Great song, poignant lyrics, and that mysterious chord progression -- the song is in the key of E, but it both begins and ends on an A. The sense of suspension when the band hits that last A9, and it fades out and doesn't resolve, was one of the high points of '60s psychedelia. And the title is one of those classic rock-and-roll stories; it fits the song perfectly, but it was a complete accident. George Harrison was sitting at a table writing out the lyrics on paper, and he wrote the word "bridge" next to the middle section. Eric Clapton was trying to read it upside down from the other side of the table, and he thought it said "badge".

Man, this was all before my time so I can't comment much on most of those. I was into Kiss, AC DC, Alice Cooper, Supertramp, Rush, Styx and so forth when I was a teenager.

Recently, I came across a song that my Dad used to have on a mixed cassette tape that he would play on the way up to the cottage over the summer. I hadn't heard it in YEARS!

I remember that one too. It was done in the style of the Beach Boys, but it was recorded in the early '70s -- a few years after the Beach Boys' heyday.

Thats the one! A classic surf rock feel, just a smidge newer.
Speaking of the Beach Boys, they were my first concert...

I am trying to think of the artist who sang a song with the following lyrics: I ve got a brand new pair of rollerskates and hes got a brand new key. It was a female from about '72 . oh I think I just remembered her name....

Oh my gosh. I must be a social outcast. I don't recognize most of these songs, other than S&G and the Beatles.
Not a fan of the Beach Boys, other than God Only Knows... also don't know much Cream, but I'm a big Eric Clapton fan. Anyone else?
