Hi all - I'm happy to have found this place.
Currently, I dance pro/am American Smooth and recently added American Rhythm. I do very few competitions (1 a year is a lot for me). I love to do showcases and perform about 5-6 times a year.

Hi all!
Right now I'm doing Pro-Am Latin, in a struggle with my pro over what level I really am, LOL...I live in Nashville, TN and was lucky enough to pretty much fall into the top studio in the country when I moved here for college. I'm graduating in 32 days (
) and hopefully I'll find a job that will pay me enough to let me keep dancing, but for now the plan is to keep going at least through the Volunteer State comp in late July. Before starting up Latin with my current pro, I started dancing at a FADS back in my hometown for a year, then when I moved to Nashville took lessons from a national RS Rhythm champ for nearly 2 years. Unfortunately, his schedule just got too crazy to deal with, and I moved to another instructor and danced Standard for ~7 months. Long story short, that didn't work out so well, and here I am--happier with my dancing than I've ever been before.
I'll upload some pics when I get home tonight--don't have them available to me right now, but I'll get them up as soon as I can!
Oh, and.....

Welcome to all the newcomers. Jump on board and please do share your experiences and stories with us.
By the way, I just ate one of the bananas, with peanut butter on it.

Hello!! I'm so excited about the new board! It's lovely to see all the names I recognise, too (even if you don't recognise me, being a bit of a lurker).
I'm not a competing dancer; it's not a viable option for me at the moment, living in the country, where there is very little dancing to be had. But I move to Sydney in a few months, so with any luck, the dancing should pick up a bit then. I dance a bit of everything really (really!!). International standard and latin, as well as NV. I also take classes in tap and jazz. Once I start my course in Syd, there'll be ballet in there too (tap, jazz and ballet are compulsory for my course).

Are you studying performing arts? Obviously thats where your interests are. You will have to keep us updated on which forms of dance help or hinder partner dancing. My pro was trained in classical ballet and it makes him so ballanced and graceful yet others say that ballet and ballroom are incompatible...

Yup! musical theatre! Soooo excited! Auditioned on a whim, figuring I had no chance after my grand total of six singing lessons (and the course really majoring in singing)...but there you go...can't wait to start! Will definitely keep in mind what's helpful for ballroom, but I have a feeling I'll be so immersed in it all, it'll be hard to tell exactly what is affecting what and how...

Well, I'll make two predictions - you will be VERY busy and you will be very happy.
What about GB*?
gorgeous boyfriend how does that work out...

I agree with both those predictions wholeheartedly.
GB...hehehehe...I like! May just adopt that one
Well, that's where it gets a little tricky. I won't be in Sydney all the time, just during the week mostly; it's an hour and a half-ish, so not un-doable, travel wise. He's actually looking into a course at the acting school next door (or the other one also in the city) at the moment, so maybe there won't be any issues at all! But at the moment, weekends are the plan, along with FB, text messages, telephone...

Hello.
We dance primarily international, the ten dances except for Paso Doble. We both started with American so can stumble our way through American style rumba, tango and waltz still, and kind of enjoy mixing it up a bit.
We struggle the most with Tango and Viennese Waltz. For some reason, International Tango just doesn't "grab" me. As for the VW, my partner is sure it's me and I'm sure it's him causing our problems
Hi and welcome Dancerette!!!!!!!!!!
