These are dances from far North Queensland - the Aboriginal council actually allowed them to dance traditional moves to Zorba dance. Very funny

Frank Djirrimbilpilwuy's son Lionel, who is 19, is the lead dancer who came up with the idea of fusing modern Yolngu dance with the Greek Zorba.
"They just pick up whatever style or tune they like to pick, you know, as long as it's a fast moving type, up-tempo music style, you know, with a lot of rhythm. They do it at home, just to keep themselves busy and fit, and main thing is to yeah, just to keep themselves away from boredom."
It is handy to know that they are using traditional (modern) Yolgnu dance in their steps, it doesn't allow for women to enter

Well, its time they invented yolgnu partner dancing. Though looking at what they do with their midrifs in that dance (pretty impressive) maybe that would be dangerous...

I just remembered that we do the Zorba in teenager class at the studio. Looks very different though.

Can you do that rib-cage actoin? seems a critical part of their dance form...

Not at this moment but I will practice it the next couple of months. I am sure that with intense practice then I will be able to do something similar.

I have been working on them.
They actually feel fairly similar to the "talent" exercises that my main teacher gave me.
