why do you have to be off time with your partner? from what I am reading in these posts the man suggests the timing but the lady runs with it until it is time for more suggestions. why cant you correct the timing? are men too stupid to listen?

we can't correct the timing because you ARE the timing.  I was discussing this with DP tonight, raising the question whether the follower (or as we should call them the responder) can help with timing.  You really don't want that - we spent all this effort learning to NOT listen the last thing you want is for us to start again and then have both of us trying to stay on time.

Sorry, tempo is your job and you are stuck with it.  We will do movement...

I see your point EE. Is it possible that the "jobs" of each dancer (I will continue to call them men and women) overlap , reverse , or intertwine so exquisitely they no longer need an owner. I will never know because my dancing has too far to go.
