Meh, this one wasn't really appropriate, and it got infinitely too long. Gist of it was, if you're ugly and you ask to learn something, you get shot down. If you're pretty, though, and ask the exact same thing verbatim, you get your name in sparkles all over it, too!

:-D I think this is the last bit of blogging I should do here, Lol.

This should probably be in a studio management section, but it's kind of irksome as well.

Once upon a time, we learned to originally dance International rumba. Our first outing into the rest of the dance circle in our area, we quickly found out that International rumba isn't as popular socially as American rumba- and I get the feeling it's that way most places, right?- so we came back to our teacher, armed with some questions and ideas for our private lessons.

"So they're doing American rumba- can we learn some of the more popularly-danced figures in order to be better adapted social dancers?"

The reply was: "Okay, a long time ago, insert political stupid studio drama here, big fall-out there, and the bottom line is the way I'm teaching you is better, because it's easier to dance international than american because with american you have to get in and out of the box each time, bla bla bla, NO."

etc.

I think that was the point wasn't it G?  I got a bit lost once sparkletard came in.  Though I understand that he is gorgeous.

As I understood it at the time ( a LOOOOONG time ago) the fundamental leg actions are different, almost opposite, in American and Standard latin and its hard to switch between the two and do it well.  Perhaps this was your studio's point?

Vagabond! You're back! Awesome!

Hey- it's a blog, at least I didn't cross-post it all over the forum, right?

Correct.  The blog is your area - but you obviously do still have to be considerate of everyone that is going to read it Wink

Ginger you cant use alterations that could be offensive and I was offended by the change in Vagabonds name...I am glad you are happy that he is back (so am I) but please be careful. You seem awfully wound up at the moment, has something happened?

[whoever edited that name - thanks... we have to draw a line between funny and rude, and funny word play that it might seem, that was rather on the r side.]
