My first ever dress made by me, and have not finished. Maybe will never finish. Looks kinda boring.

nothing wrong with a little black dess. you can always dress i up or down.....I found a pattern with a latin dress and a standard dress, thinking of buying it and tinker

A lot of people start with a Kwik Sew skater costume pattern, IIRC. It's design for four-way stretch fabric, so it works as a good base for a ballroom costume. Let me google. I shall return.

Woulda thunk? McCalls bought Kwik Sew.
Anyway. Yep. I'm pretty sure these are the right patterns . Not sure hat machine you use -- a regular sewing machine or a serger -- but these patterns use the right types of fabric, IMO.
