Should one post one's comp vid on youTube or FB...

Question: is this a good idea?
I'm particularly interested both in whether people think its a good idea (vs maybe ostentatious, etc) AND for people who have done so whether they were glad or regretted it later.
[this is NOT for such links - we already have a good topic for that]

I would. I have no friends that don't either know me through here or in real life, so no-one would be nasty or creepy.
Problem is I don't have a video.

And I'm going to watch every single one of them if you post them on youtube ED!
I used to have comp videos on youtube, somehow I took them off.

but thats really the essence - when are they 'good enough'. I understand not wanting to put up a video from years ago because that is misleading. however, I hold that its a good idea to put up a current one, flaws and all, because that is an honest statement where you are. Obviously you are not going to post the one where you froze and danced two sides of basic (in an open comp) as we once did
(actually if I had one of that event I would post it just for the laugh) but why not show were you are? The nice part is that you can then show the progress down the line...

I agree having said that someone posted a video from a comp in WA and one guy in there lost it and had no idea where he was. poort thing I know it happens to us all but to have it on the internet
He most probably has no idea that it is there.

Don't you have video service at your comps? Almost all of ours have it...

I agree with ee, if it's good enough, looks decent, and current, not so misleading, if a true statement of your dancing, then put it up to share...

the last lot of video is not good as we asked the person not only to take us but others as we wanted to see what the others were doing, so we are not in it that much...

isnt it awful when people follow your instructions too well?
I tried that here but they refused - I think they were worried about us poaching other people's dancing...

yes have to find a balance or perhaps two videos. one when they follow you and the other the overall competitors, but the good thin is that we can see why we one, we were the most consistent couple on the floor. Our arm movements were not complicated and less busy, giving an overall better picture IMO... We will be showing our teachers after the break so we will see what they think.
