waiting is surely one of the most important - and hardest - skills of the responder...

it is, but one has to in tune with you partner to achieve that, and that is a skill

But waiting is also required at various points of the lead (initiator?). At various points, one partner has to wait for the other, and both have to at times wait on the music. With all that waiting, it's a wonder we ever get to dance.

Decidedly. When I'm on the outside you better wait - or I get to stand on your foot

Do they sell Afrin there? It's great for last-minute decongestant emergencies, as long as you don't make a habit of it.
Also, have you asked your doctor about Flonase or something similar?

WE have a 'daytime' flu pill here that is amazing - you feel totally normal. Of course your body still functions as if its sick

Had to share this:
"Is it not true that everything is a question of balance? If you feel you are losing your balance, you may overreact in an attempt to gain it back, but if you understand your center and know how to find your balance you can calmly move from one position to the next. To the viewer, it almost seems like a kind of discreet, highly efficient dance that you are constantly engaged in. No one position will work for every situation, so you have to remain alert and flexible and be ready to adjust to what does work." (Ronald)
Funny thing is that its advice off a violin forum!
I suppose you would read the same thing in judo, tennis, tai chi, golf, etc etc etc...

Sounds like good life advise to me.

as I am recovering from my injury, I find balance a real issues, one of the reasons is that I do not have a full range of movement in my leg, the muscles have got weak and if I try to compress I dont have the strength to push myself up.
I am doing exercises to build it back up but it does not come back as quickly as it disappeared. Also you tend to be a bit more ginger as you dont want to cause any damage.
I know I have been feeling rather heavy and relying on my partner and I have to fix that. I dont think the partnership is even.

DP was ill so I had to have my lesson alone. And we worked on ballance in part. The key thing really is to make sure you can dance in ballance alone.
I went over this with DP during our next practice session - first warming up by ourselves rather than together, to get comfortable on the feet and then dancing with more space between us so that we can maintain our own ballance. This has been quite amazing. It seems as if we can now 'cash in' on the work we have done before: the space lets us dance freeer but the past experience keeps us in sync.
