trouble is its really as good a grant as I can write - the current committee just does not like my kind of work. Tongue
what do you do when your work is critical for the understanding of every synapse in the brain and hence, every movement, thought and sensation - but the reviewer says that your scope is too small?

I think basic science has just expired in Canada Tongue

Here in Australia too I think! 2 years ago my boss's grant was rejected on the grounds of not being translational enough, last year it was rejected because it was too ambitious in brining animal research and human research together. You can never win the reviewers!
for sure... they have a mindset and their own interests.  I think currently they are into developmental issues - I guess I could do a spin.....

Sometimes I think DS doesn't have enough sense to come in out of the rain. Nuff said. But at least I didn't say it to him. lol.

My pleasure - indeed the only pleasure you get from this is after 35 yrs watching someone else go through the same thing.

My son could not avoid an obstacle in his way even if you covered it in sparklers.

"there's a wall infront of you";

... crash ...
"er, theres a ditch infront of you";
Splosh

and so it went.. Fortunately they learn by running into every possible wall and falling into every possible ditch
And then they get obnoxious as to how smart they are.  The pleasures of raising a boy.
